Cover Supervisor – Tower Hamlets

Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £100–£130 per day, depending on experience

Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor looking for your next opportunity in a supportive secondary school?

We are working with a number of secondary schools across Tower Hamlets who are looking for confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to join their teams from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong classroom management skills who enjoys working with young people and can confidently maintain high expectations in the absence of the class teacher.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Supervise students across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of their usual teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain engaged with their work.
• Maintain a calm, focused and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour effectively in line with the school’s policies and expectations.
• Provide clear instructions and support students with their learning.
• Complete lesson registers and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Support students with different learning needs where required.
• Work flexibly across different subjects and year groups.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students.
• Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Be confident supervising classes independently.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be reliable, organised and professional.
• Be able to build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Have a genuine interest in supporting young people’s education and development.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor or Tutor would be highly desirable.
