Cover Supervisor – Secondary School

Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time / Day-to-Day

Salary: £100–£110 per day, depending on experience

Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor with strong classroom management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom independently?

We are working with a number of secondary schools across Tower Hamlets who are looking for reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to join their teams from September. These opportunities are ideal for graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants and education professionals looking to gain further secondary school experience.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure students remain focused and engaged.
• Establish clear expectations and maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment.
• Manage challenging behaviour confidently and consistently.
• Support students with their work and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
• Follow school policies and procedures, particularly around behaviour and safeguarding.
• Complete registers and provide relevant feedback to teaching staff.
• Work across different subjects and year groups depending on the school’s requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
• Has strong behaviour and classroom management skills.
• Is confident taking responsibility for a classroom independently.
• Can build positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Is calm, resilient and able to remain composed in challenging situations.
• Has excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Is reliable, punctual and professional.
• Has a genuine interest in supporting young people and their education.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Tutor or Youth Worker would be advantageous.
