Cover Supervisor – Local Secondary School
Location: Maidenhead
Job Type: Short term or Long term
Working Hours: 08:30am – 4:00pm
Salary: £90 – £105 per day
About the Role
Engage Education is working in partnership with secondary schools across Maidenhead to recruit reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors on a supply basis. These opportunities are available to cover both planned absences and unplanned staff sickness.
One of the key benefits of supply work is flexibility – you can set your own availability each week, making these roles suitable for both part-time and full-time applicants.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects, either to provide classroom teacher release time (PPA) or to cover staff absences. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students complete the work set by their teacher.
While previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is not essential, applicants must hold a degree and have experience working with young people. We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in youth work, support work, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles.
As supply work can present a variety of classroom environments and behavioural challenges, successful candidates will be adaptable, personable, and confident in managing different situations.
Your Responsibilities
As a Cover Supervisor, your duties will include:
- Supervising pupils while they complete pre-planned work set by teaching staff
- Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment
- Supporting students with questions relating to the tasks provided
- Following the school’s behaviour management and safeguarding policies
- Collecting completed work and returning it to the relevant Head of Department
- Providing feedback on student engagement, behaviour, and lesson outcomes
- Ensuring lessons run smoothly in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
