School Caretaker – Brighton

Engage Education is working with a welcoming school in Brighton to recruit a reliable and proactive School Caretaker for a full-time position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant, or practical individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school site.

About the role:

• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds
• Ensuring the school site is safe, secure, and ready for staff and pupils each day
• Opening and closing the premises, including carrying out security checks
• Supporting health and safety procedures and reporting any concerns
• Monitoring contractors and assisting with site-related works
• Maintaining outdoor areas, facilities, and equipment
• Completing basic repairs and maintenance tasks where required
• Supporting room setups for meetings, events, and school activities
• Managing deliveries, moving furniture, and assisting with general site requirements
• Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, security, and premises procedures

About you:

• Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or a similar practical role
• Confident carrying out general repairs and basic maintenance tasks
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, organised, and able to manage a varied workload
• Comfortable working independently and using initiative
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
• Good communication skills when working with staff, visitors, and contractors
• Flexible and proactive approach to supporting the school environment
• Full UK driving licence is desirable
