Behaviour Support Worker Required for Secondary School Alternative Provision in Bradford

About the role:

This Behaviour Support Worker role is based within a supportive and proactive on-site alternative provision in a secondary school in Bradford. The provision supports students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and pastoral support to help them re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

The school is seeking a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Worker with experience in a similar role, ideally supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work closely with students on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping to create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment.

The role is being offered on a temp-to-perm basis, so being able full-time for the position is essential. 

Your Role:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to engage pupils in learning and minimise disruption
  • Providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and senior staff
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges
  • Helping students develop confidence, resilience, and positive coping strategies
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience working in a similar Behaviour Support Worker or Behaviour Mentor role
  • Confident supporting students with SEMH needs
  • Outgoing, resilient, and nurturing manner
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping young people reach their full potential
  • Able to think on their feet and remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
