We are working with a specialist alternative provision in Bromley that is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its experienced pastoral team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support to successfully engage with education.

The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for pupils who benefit from specialist intervention, high expectations and consistent relationships.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop the skills, resilience and confidence needed to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group behaviour support for students with SEMH and additional needs.
• Building positive relationships that encourage trust, engagement and personal development.
• Supporting students to regulate their emotions and make positive behavioural choices.
• Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to minimise disruption and maximise learning.
• Delivering restorative conversations and helping students reflect on their behaviour.
• Supporting students during transition periods, social times and intervention sessions.
• Recording behaviour incidents and contributing to behaviour support plans.
• Liaising with families and external agencies where appropriate to support student progress.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, alternative provision or care settings.
• Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Can remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
• Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understands safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, trauma or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
