Behaviour Mentor Required for a Secondary Academy in Bradford

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary academy in Bradford. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance and supporting students who require additional guidance to engage successfully in school life. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies, you will help students develop the confidence, resilience and self-regulation skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.

Your Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring for students requiring behavioural and emotional support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage students to make successful choices.
• Support pupils in lessons to maximise engagement and minimise disruption.
• Work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and senior leaders to implement behaviour support strategies.
• Promote attendance, punctuality and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Support students with a range of additional needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism and other learning needs.
• Help students develop emotional regulation, resilience and confidence.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to behaviour and pastoral reviews.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is calm, patient and resilient under pressure.
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Can motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential.
• Demonstrates empathy whilst maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Is proactive, solution-focused and able to think on their feet.
• Has experience working with children or young people in schools, youth work, care or mentoring environments (desirable but not essential).
• Understands behaviour as communication and adopts a restorative approach to supporting young people.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Shares the school’s commitment to inclusion, equality and high aspirations for every student.
