About the Role

Engage Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in East Leeds, who are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic long-term, full-time opportunity, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and helping them to achieve their potential. Previous experience working in a school or nursery would be beneficial, although candidates with transferable experience from other childcare, care, youth work or support-based roles are encouraged to apply.

Your Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with their learning and development across the primary curriculum.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and effective learning activities.
  • Provide individual and small-group support where required.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Encourage pupils to develop their confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Support children with different learning needs and abilities.
  • Use creativity and a range of approaches to engage pupils in their learning.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and wider school staff.
  • Support with classroom routines and the wider day-to-day running of the classroom.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or nursery setting.
  • Have a genuine passion for education and supporting children’s development.
  • Be enthusiastic, creative and confident when engaging pupils.
  • Be patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have a proactive and positive approach to supporting pupils.
  • Be reliable and committed to a long-term position.
