Engage Education is currently working with a supportive and welcoming SEN school in Rochdale that is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making science accessible, engaging and enjoyable for pupils with additional needs.

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that are adapted to meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils.

You will work closely with the wider school team to create a positive, inclusive learning environment and help pupils develop both academically and personally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons across the relevant curriculum
• Adapting lessons and resources to meet a range of SEN needs
• Creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
• Differentiating work to ensure all pupils can access learning
• Managing classroom behaviour positively and consistently
• Building strong and positive relationships with pupils
• Assessing pupil progress and providing appropriate feedback
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other support staff
• Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience
• Maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour
• Contributing to curriculum development and enrichment activities
• Following school policies, safeguarding procedures and health & safety requirements

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be:

• A qualified teacher with experience teaching Science
• Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs
• Confident adapting teaching to suit different abilities and learning styles
• Patient, resilient and approachable
• Able to build strong relationships with pupils
• Confident managing challenging behaviour
• Creative in their approach to lesson planning and delivery
• A strong communicator and team player
• Committed to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment
• Dedicated to helping every pupil achieve their potential

Experience working within an SEN school, specialist provision, PRU or alternative education setting would be highly desirable. However, we would also welcome applications from teachers with a strong mainstream background who are passionate about developing their SEN experience.
