Salary: £18 – £22 Per hour
A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Croydon is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate English Tutor to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an English graduate who is considering a career in teaching and wants to gain valuable school-based experience while helping pupils improve their confidence and attainment in English.
The Role
- Support pupils across KS3 and KS4 English
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group tuition
- Support students with English Language and English Literature
- Help pupils improve reading, writing, comprehension and analytical skills
- Provide targeted support for students preparing for GCSE English
- Work closely with English teachers to identify areas where pupils need additional support
- Assist with classroom activities and intervention sessions
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence and independent study skills
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a degree in English, English Literature, English Language or a closely related subject
- Have a strong academic background
- Confident working with secondary-aged pupils
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Patient, enthusiastic and able to motivate young people
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Previous tutoring, mentoring or school-based experience would be advantageous
- Particularly suited to graduates considering teacher training or a future career in education
