Welcome to iday

When you join us for iday, you’re making the choice to begin your new teaching career in the UK. Wherever you are in Canada, our Engage consultant will arrange everything for you and will be on hand to assist you with your CV, references and any other documentation. If you’re interested in joining us for iday, simply register with us and one of our consultants will be in touch right away to discuss your options.

Why iday?

We aren’t a ‘fly-in, fly-out’ agency, we want to make sure you find a school that suits you as an individual. We believe a face-to-face interview significantly boosts the chances of a successful job offer (for both parties) compared to a telephone or skype interview.

Prior to the event, your iday consultant will advise you on CV presentation, references and relevant documentation that you will need in order to work legally in the UK. Pre-interviews and feedback will help you prepare for the day. At the event itself, your consultant will be there to encourage and help you at every turn, giving you the best possible chance of getting your ideal job. After each iday, we run a full CPD session that will help you with the practical skills of planning lessons and curriculum management, and which will put you in a confident state of mind to demonstrate your teaching ability at its best.

iday for Teachers

Looking for a teaching job in a UK school? Taking part in an iday is a free, fun and flexible way to find the right role. Engage Education has helped thousands of teachers into jobs after iday events. Register with us to find out how we could help you take the next step forward in your career.

iday week structure

Your trip to England will be jam-packed with interviews and taster days, but we’re with you at every moment to ensure you’re fully prepared and having fun! On Friday, after the iday festivities of the days before, you’ll be invited to a social drinks evening so you can let your hair down and celebrate your new job before you return home.

You’ll be up bright and early to have breakfast and be transported to the iday location with your fellow teachers. Once you arrive, you’ll interview with multiple schools which have been specially selected for you based on your skills and requirements. Your Engage consultant will give you information and tips on each school, so you’ll feel supported and prepared for each meeting.

Lunch and refreshments are provided and each iday is set in a great location where you can relax between interviews and meet other teachers.

The day after iday you will attend a free CPD session about teaching in the UK, including curriculum training and school structure information. After your free lunch, you’ll receive feedback from the schools you’ve interviewed with and be notified of which ones you’ve matched with.

The rest of your afternoon will be spent planning your iday lesson. You’ll receive a step-by-step guide to lesson planning with the help of the Teaching & Learning team, and have a chance to practice your lesson.

Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday and/or Thursday, you’ll be delivering your taster lesson in your chosen schools! You’ll be completely prepared for this from the day before, and our team will be on hand to help you with any last-minute questions. After your taster days in the chosen schools, you’ll receive detailed feedback from your consultant.

In the evening, there will be an informal Q&A session to assist you with any questions that have arisen after your in-school experiences.

Why Engage?

Once you’ve secured your new teaching position, you’ll be eligible for all of the great benefits of working with Engage. Our relationship doesn’t end once you have moved to the UK and started teaching. From free CPD sessions and one-on-one training to wellbeing support and social events, we’re with you every step of the way to ensure you succeed in your vocation.
