Are you a Psychology Graduate interested in how children learn, develop and build confidence during their early years of education? Would you like to gain valuable classroom experience while helping young learners reach their potential?

Engage Education is looking for a motivated and caring graduate to join a primary school in Dewsbury as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This role is ideal for someone considering a career in educational psychology, primary teaching, child development or therapeutic support.

Working alongside the class teacher, you will help children access the curriculum, develop essential learning skills and feel confident participating in school life. You will support pupils with differing abilities and learning needs, adapting activities and providing encouragement to help every child make progress.

What does the role involve?

  • One-to-One Support: Work with children who need additional guidance, helping them build confidence in reading, writing, maths and other curriculum areas.

  • Small-Group Activities: Assist with targeted learning sessions designed to reinforce key skills and encourage participation.

  • Social and Emotional Development: Help children develop positive relationships, manage emotions and build resilience.

  • Inclusive Learning: Adapt your approach to support pupils with additional needs, including those who may require help with communication, attention or emotional regulation.

  • Monitoring Progress: Observe how children respond to activities and share useful feedback with the class teacher.
