About the role:

  • Support pupils in their day-to-day learning, helping them develop their confidence, independence and academic skills.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to support engaging lessons and classroom activities across the primary curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils who may require additional help with their learning.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Assist with phonics, reading, writing, maths and other curriculum activities, depending on the needs of the class.
  • Help deliver interventions and targeted activities designed to address individual learning needs and support pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, safe and purposeful classroom environment.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging them to develop confidence and independence.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them feel safe, valued and included.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, Teaching Assistants and the wider school team to provide consistent support.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to the school’s commitment to pupil wellbeing.
  • Take part in training and professional development to build your knowledge and confidence as a Teaching Assistant.

Requirements:

  • Have full UK working rights
  • Be committed to completing the 12-month apprenticeship programme
  • Hold GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Not currently be enrolled in another government-funded course
  • Have not already completed an apprenticeship or similar teaching qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Have a genuine interest in working with children and supporting their education and development
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children
