Engage Education is searching for a dedicated KS2 Behaviour Mentor to join a warm, welcoming 2-form entry primary school in Gorton. About the Role
Working across Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6), you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils who present with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviours. You will act as a consistent, positive role model—delivering 1:1 mentoring sessions, facilitating small-group social skills workshops, and using proactive de-escalation strategies to help pupils self-regulate and re-engage with classroom learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group mentoring for Key Stage 2 pupils struggling with emotional regulation, focus, or classroom engagement.
- Implementing proactive de-escalation techniques, positive behavior plans, and restorative practice.
- Supporting pupils during classroom learning, transitions, and unstructured periods like breaktimes and lunchtimes.
- Fostering self-esteem, resilience, coping mechanisms, and positive peer interactions.
- Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and parents to track progress and adjust support strategies.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience: Proven experience supporting children with SEMH, EBD, or challenging behaviour in a primary school, alternative provision, or youth work setting.
- Skillset: Strong de-escalation abilities, active listening skills, and a calm, reassuring demeanor under pressure.
- Mindset: Highly resilient, patient, non-judgmental, and deeply committed to inclusive education.
- Training (Desirable): Team-Teach, MAPA, or accredited de-escalation/mental health training is an advantage, but strong hands-on experience is key.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Full eligibility to work in the UK with professional references covering the last two years.
