Primary Team Teach Behaviour Mentor – Manchester

Engage Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Behaviour Mentor who is Team Teach trained to join a specialist primary SEN school in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them develop the confidence, skills and behaviours they need to succeed.

The school is looking for a calm, resilient and nurturing Behaviour Mentor who can build strong relationships with pupils and provide consistent support throughout the school day.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who may present with challenging or complex behaviours, helping them to regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours and engage with their learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting children with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Helping pupils to develop social, emotional and communication skills
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
  • Implementing individual behaviour and support strategies
  • De-escalating challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Current Team Teach training – essential
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or challenging behaviour
  • Experience working within a school, specialist setting, PRU or similar environment
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain composed in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding

Relevant experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker or similar would be highly beneficial.
