Pay: £85 – £95 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant experienced in supporting complex needs, Autism (ASC), or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)?

Engage Education is seeking an empathetic and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work within ‘The Hive’—a dedicated primary Resource Provision supporting pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities Working within ‘The Hive’, you will:

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex ASC, communication barriers, or emotional regulation needs.
• Implement structured routines, visual schedules (PECS/NOW & NEXT), and sensory interventions to help children access learning.
• Support pupils during quiet sensory breaks and assist with emotional self-regulation using trauma-informed approaches.
• Assist the SEN Teacher with individualised EHCP targets, speech & language activities, and tracking progress.
• Help facilitate safe, supported integration into mainstream school activities and playtimes where appropriate.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN (Autism, SEMH, SLCN, or complex needs) in a school or care setting.
• Key Skills: Familiarity with visual aids, sensory equipment, or positive behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach / PRICE is advantageous).
• Attributes: Patient, adaptable, resilient, and deeply committed to nurturing individual potential.
• Requirements: High level of empathy and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
