KS1 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – Sutton
Would you like to begin a rewarding career working with children?
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual to join a welcoming primary school in Sutton as a KS1 Teaching Assistant Apprentice.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical classroom experience while working towards a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification. You will earn while you learn and receive ongoing support from experienced teachers, school staff and your apprenticeship tutor.
About the role
You will work with children aged 5–7 in Key Stage 1, supporting their learning, development and wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the class teacher with lessons and activities
- Working with pupils individually and in small groups
- Helping children develop their reading, writing and numeracy skills
- Preparing classroom resources and learning materials
- Encouraging positive behaviour and participation
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Helping children develop their confidence and independence
- Supervising pupils during breaktimes and school activities
- Providing feedback to the class teacher about pupils’ progress
About the apprenticeship
Alongside your school-based role, you will work towards a recognised Teaching Assistant apprenticeship qualification.
You will receive training in areas including:
- Supporting children’s learning and development
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Understanding SEND
- Promoting positive behaviour
- Supporting literacy and numeracy
- Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about working with children
- Is patient, caring and reliable
- Communicates confidently with children and adults
- Is willing to learn and develop
- Can work effectively as part of a school team
- Has suitable English and maths qualifications
- Is eligible to complete an apprenticeship
Previous experience working with children is helpful but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
