We are working with an ambitious and welcoming primary school in Sutton that is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its team.

About the role

You will work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Helping teachers plan and deliver engaging lessons
  • Supporting children with their educational and behavioural development
  • Preparing classroom resources and learning activities
  • Providing feedback on pupils’ progress
  • Helping pupils develop their confidence and independence
  • Supporting extracurricular activities and intervention sessions

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a degree in any subject
  • Is enthusiastic about supporting children and young people
  • Has strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is patient, reliable and willing to learn
  • Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential

The training programme

Our Early Career Teaching Assistant Programme combines school-based experience with a bespoke CPD programme developed by former senior school leaders and our CPD partner, Creative Education.

Training includes:

  • How to become an effective Teaching Assistant
  • How to maximise your impact on pupils’ learning
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities awareness
  • Behaviour management
  • Enhanced safeguarding training

You will also receive free access to more than 300 online courses, allowing you to develop your knowledge and specialise in areas that interest you.
