We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Bradford that provides high-quality education for children and young people aged 3–19 with complex Autism and Communication & Interaction needs. This exceptional setting is seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Support Worker who brings both resilience and compassion to their practice.

This well-established specialist provision supports pupils with a diverse range of complex and additional needs. Students may present with sensory processing differences, communication barriers, and varying levels of independence. The school prides itself on a highly skilled, supportive team and a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment tailored to each individual.

 

The Role

 

As a Complex Needs Support Worker, you will work across different phases of the school based on need. You will support pupils with a range of behaviours, including those linked to sensory regulation and communication difficulties, as well as pupils who require a calm, consistent, and reassuring approach.

 

This role requires flexibility, emotional resilience, and the ability to adapt your support style to meet highly individualised needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Supporting pupils with Autism and complex communication needs

Managing behaviours that may be unpredictable, sensory-led, or communication-based

Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment

Assisting with personal care where required

Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams

Adapting strategies to support individual learning and emotional needs

Promoting engagement, independence, and positive outcomes

 

What We’re Looking For

 

Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, Autism, or additional learning needs (personal or professional)

Background in support work, care, SEN, or a related field (children or adults)

Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using calm, consistent approaches

A patient, nurturing, and adaptable mindset

Willingness to work across the 3–19 age range

Strong emotional resilience, reliability, and commitment to inclusive practice

Additional Information

Full-time availability (Monday–Friday)

Immediate start available

Long-term role with potential for a permanent position
