Engage Education is recruiting Teaching Assistants to work across a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools in Lewisham from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to make a real difference in education.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, both in the classroom and through small group interventions.
• Work alongside teachers to help deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Provide targeted support to students who require additional academic or pastoral assistance.
• Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
• Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
• Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents to support student progress and wellbeing.

We’re Looking For

• Experience working with young people in schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, sports coaching, or similar settings is desirable.
• A positive, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A genuine passion for education and supporting students to succeed.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
