About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deaf Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications to join our inclusive and supportive school in Wandsworth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Deaf students and those with hearing impairments to access learning and thrive within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support to Deaf students, facilitating communication through BSL
- Work closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and activities
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that values diversity
- Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) where required
Person Specification
- BSL qualification (Level 2 minimum; Level 3 or above desirable)
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Commitment to inclusion and supporting Deaf learners
