Engage Education is currently recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming and supportive primary schools across Mitcham from September 2026.

About the Role

  • Earn a minimum of £350 per week
  • Full-time positions available from September 2026
  • Support pupils in small groups and through targeted interventions
  • Provide 1:1 support for children with additional needs
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation
  • Gain hands-on experience in a primary school environment

The Training Programme

Our Early Career Teaching Assistant Programme combines practical school-based experience with a comprehensive CPD training package developed by experienced education professionals.

You will receive training in:

  • How to be an effective Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting pupil progress and achievement
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Awareness
  • Behaviour Management Strategies
  • Enhanced Safeguarding
  • Maximising your impact in the classroom

As part of the programme, you’ll also receive free access to over 300 online CPD courses, helping you develop specialist skills and build a successful career in education.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, proactive attitude
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential.
