SEN Learning Support Assistant – Hassocks

Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Engage Education is working with a supportive and inclusive school in Hassocks to recruit a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for a full-time position starting in September 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and patient individual to support pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and make progress both academically and personally. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support within the classroom.

About the role:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Supporting students to access learning activities and the wider curriculum
• Assisting with personalised learning plans and targeted interventions
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement
• Supporting pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs
• Working alongside teachers and the SEN team to implement support strategies
• Helping create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• Monitoring pupil progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff

About you:

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Previous SEN, care, support work, or education experience is beneficial
• Patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Confident supporting students with a range of individual needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptable and willing to support pupils in different situations
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
