Primary Teacher Required – Specialist SEMH Provision | Burgess Hill

We are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Burgess Hill that is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This nurturing and therapeutic setting supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), ADHD, and associated communication and behavioural difficulties. The school is committed to helping every pupil develop confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning through a personalised and holistic approach.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and confident teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Strong behaviour management skills, alongside a calm, patient and empathetic approach, are essential.

Pupils benefit from highly personalised learning programmes, small class sizes, and a supportive multidisciplinary team. The curriculum is designed to promote both academic progress and personal development, enabling pupils to achieve success in all areas of school life.

About the Role

  • Full-time, permanent position starting September 2025
  • Teaching a small class of 4–6 pupils
  • Working with children who may present with SEMH needs, autism, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours, and challenges with emotional regulation
  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Creating a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Collaborating closely with support staff and wider professionals to support pupil outcomes
  • Suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
  • Previous SEND or SEMH experience is desirable but not essential
  • Paid to scale

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Understanding of SEMH, autism and additional learning needs
  • Flexibility, resilience and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Ability to implement school policies and contribute positively to the wider school community
