Are you an enthusiastic ICT Tutor, Computing Teacher, or digital skills specialist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people?

 

We are working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Leeds to recruit a dedicated ICT Tutor to join their team either immediately or from September 2026.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to support learners who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including SEND, SEMH needs, emotionally based school avoidance, and behavioural challenges. Through engaging and practical ICT lessons, you will help students develop valuable digital skills, build confidence, and prepare for future education, training and employment.

 

The Role

 

As an ICT Tutor, you will deliver engaging and accessible ICT and digital skills lessons to small groups of learners across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

 

You will create a supportive learning environment that enables students to develop their knowledge of technology, improve digital literacy, and gain confidence in their abilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Plan and deliver engaging ICT and Computing lessons.

Teach a range of digital skills, including Microsoft Office, online safety, digital literacy, basic coding, and creative technology.

Adapt learning to meet the needs of students with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs.

Monitor, assess and record student progress.

Build positive relationships that encourage engagement and participation.

Support learners to develop confidence, independence and employability skills.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external agencies.

Promote safe and responsible use of technology.

Contribute to a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding and student welfare at all times.

 

The Ideal Candidate

Desirable

 

βœ” Experience teaching or tutoring ICT, Computing or Digital Skills

 

βœ” Relevant qualifications in ICT, Computing or a related field

 

βœ” Experience working with young people

 

βœ” Strong communication and classroom management skills

 

βœ” Ability to engage and motivate learners who may have become disengaged from education

 

βœ” Good understanding of current digital technologies and online safety

 

βœ” Passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential

 

Additional

 

βœ” Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

 

βœ” Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education & Training or equivalent)

 

βœ” Experience within Alternative Provision, PRU, SEND or SEMH settings

 

βœ” Experience delivering accredited ICT or digital skills qualifications

 

βœ” Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
