English Teacher – Southampton

Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Engage Education is working with a thriving secondary school in Southampton to recruit an English Teacher for a September 2026 start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive English department and help students develop their literacy, communication, and analytical skills.

The successful candidate will be passionate about English and committed to delivering engaging lessons that inspire a love of reading and learning.

About the role:

• Teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
• Monitoring and assessing student attainment and progress
• Supporting students to develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication
• Creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment
• Working collaboratively with departmental colleagues
• Contributing to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities

About you:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
• Strong subject knowledge and passion for English
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire students
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply
