Senior Finance Officer – Worthing

Engage Education is working in partnership with a forward-thinking school group in Worthing to recruit an experienced Senior Finance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-focused finance professional to support the smooth financial operation of multiple school sites within a collaborative education environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budget monitoring, and ensuring strong financial controls are upheld across the organisation.

About the role:

• Supporting day-to-day financial operations across multiple school sites
• Processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records
• Assisting with budget monitoring and financial reporting
• Supporting audit preparation and compliance processes
• Providing finance guidance and support to school staff and leaders
• Using finance systems and spreadsheets to manage and analyse data
• Ensuring deadlines are met within a fast-paced environment
• Contributing to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes

About you:

• Previous experience within a finance or accounts role
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Confident using spreadsheets and finance systems
• Understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit procedures
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Professional and confident communication skills
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
• AAT qualification or working towards one is desirable
• Previous school or public sector finance experience is desirable
• Full UK driving licence preferred
