Throughput all of this process Engage and particularly Tesh have been supportive, constructive, understanding and aspirational. The last is key for us: the desire to get it right, to find a fit, to source a teacher of the right standard for the school and to find a school of the right type for the teacher. I speak to Tesh frequently and it is never a conversation that pushes me to do something that I do not want to do. He is driven by the desire to do the best for his schools and for the candidates. It is that dual desire that makes him so effective: one without the other would compromise the integrity of the process. For all his charm and easy manner, Tesh is man of great integrity and understanding. He takes time to get to know the school and therefore does not waste my time with candidates who will never fit. Whenever have had to say “No” to a candidate he is keen to understand, to feedback to the person to strengthen their practice but also to enhance his understanding of our needs, context and expectations. This also allows him to occasionally send us people who have not fitted in elsewhere confident in his knowledge of the school meaning that they will settle and succeed here. That scattergun approach is not the way that Tesh operates. His recruitment is targeted and thoughtful. We are privileged to be in a good school, in a good area, with great students; we are however very demanding of our staff. I do not want to waste my time in seeing candidates who do not fit. This is especially true of the iday that can be a full on day of interviews and marketing of the school. Tesh makes sure that everything goes smoothly, promotes the school professionally and effectively and ensures that I see only the best candidates.

Over the period of two years Teshome provided me exceptional support within my role as a Supply, PPA and Classroom Teacher. Teshome showed great interest in my position and insured that I was provided a high level of support from the schools and teaching agency. He contacted me frequently to discuss any concerns or provide me information on teacher support. His confidence, enthusiasm and friendly approach encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and attempt new challenges. As a school we have developed a strong relationship with our assigned agent, Teshome Dennis. He is chirpy, proactive and honest in his dealings with us. If we find ourselves in a situation where we need a member of staff urgently, Tesh will get onto it and often come back within a matter of hours with a candidate. What I find reassuring about Tesh is his honesty; if I’m in dire strats he may offer me a candidate who is available but will give a realistic view of their teaching – I value not being ‘oversold’ a candidate – sometimes they actually become a pleasant surprise. Tesh provides us with options but is completely understanding if, for whatever reason, we decide the candidate is not for you. No pressure. No sulking. He just sets off and tries to find someone more to our liking. Over time he has developed a strong sense of the kind of candidates we’re after and works hard to match us and them. idays have been very useful for us and provides us with a range of strong candidates for interview – of a higher quality than nearly all of our internally organised interviews. Whilst it is a competitive atmosphere, Tesh works his hardest to keep everyone informed and encourages the candidates to see the school favourably.

From the moment I enquired about working in London with Engage Education, they were extremely professional and efficient in all of my dealings with them. I have been working in the UK since September 2015 with Engage Education being my employment agency and Haider Choudhry as my consultant. He has been a breath of fresh air as from word of mouth I had been informed that a lot of agencies do not keep in contact with you once you start work and find a place to live here in the UK. As I was happily proved otherwise, Haider has been excellent in communicating with myself and my partner to make sure our move to the UK went smoothly. We originally stayed in Windsor for the first month of our time in the UK and then moved into a property in Slough, Berkshire, which is the same area of my place of work at The Westgate School. Living in Slough is a very convenient area to live as it is cheap, especially compared to London, while keeping ease of transport to visit London and other places. Throughout the time of our stay in the UK Haider has continuously been in contact with us to make sure everything is going well or if there is anything that we need help with for e.g. our employment, and living needs. Haider’s willingness to make sure we are happy with our stay has been beyond any expectation I had. He is friendly, prompt and very efficient with his work and dedicated to making his clients comfortable in their position.
