About the role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help students get the most out of their education. You’ll provide valuable classroom support, help students stay engaged with their learning and contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment.

The role would involve supporting students across the secondary curriculum, with opportunities to work with individuals and small groups depending on the needs of the school.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and accessible lessons.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students where required.
• Helping students understand and complete classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Supporting students with additional learning needs, including SEND.
• Encouraging students to develop their confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning.
• Supporting literacy, numeracy, reading, spelling and comprehension interventions.
• Helping to maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging students to participate fully in lessons.
• Preparing and adapting learning resources under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to support individual students.
• Providing pastoral and wellbeing support where appropriate.
• Helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed both academically and personally.

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, as well as graduates and individuals looking to build a career in education. It could also be an excellent opportunity for those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work or SEND.
