Are you a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or Support Worker looking for a new role supporting young people with additional needs?

We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for a secondary school in the Wakefield area. You will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their learning, communication, emotional regulation and behaviour, helping them access education and make positive progress.

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with an ASAP start.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils.
  • Support young people with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Help pupils remain engaged and access classroom learning.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviours that may challenge.
  • Build positive and consistent relationships with young people.
  • Adapt activities and support to meet individual needs.
  • Work alongside teachers, SEND and pastoral staff.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from people with experience in:

  • Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant roles
  • SEN or SEND support
  • SEMH or behaviour support
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Residential childcare
  • Care or support work
  • Working with children or vulnerable young people

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. If you have strong transferable experience and the right attitude towards supporting young people with additional needs, we’d still like to hear from you.

We’re looking for people who are patient, resilient, reliable and confident, particularly when supporting pupils who may find mainstream education challenging.

Why Apply?

  • Full-time and part-time roles available
  • Immediate/ASAP starts
  • Long-term opportunities
  • Potential for ongoing or permanent work
  • Gain valuable experience within specialist SEND support
  • Dedicated support throughout your placement

If you’re looking for a rewarding SEN Teaching Assistant role in the Wakefield area and want to make a genuine difference to young people’s education, apply today for an ASAP start.
