Are you passionate about working with children and looking to start a rewarding career in primary education?

Engage Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a welcoming primary school in Leeds as part of our Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Programme, starting in January 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a career in education, gain a recognised Level 3 qualification and build valuable hands-on experience within a Key Stage 2 classroom.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teachers and teaching assistants, supporting pupils across KS2 while completing their apprenticeship training over an 11-month period.

The Role

As a KS2 Teaching Assistant Apprentice, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stage 2.

  • Providing classroom support to pupils in Years 3–6, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.

  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning in subjects such as English and Maths.

  • Supporting pupils with their reading, writing, spelling and numeracy development.

  • Helping prepare classroom resources and learning activities.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, participation and independence.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils and supporting their academic, social and emotional development.

  • Working alongside the wider school team to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is particularly interested in applicants who have already gained some experience working with Key Stage 2-aged children, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.

This could include experience through:

  • Previous work in a primary school or classroom setting.

  • Volunteering within a school or after-school club.

  • Working in a childcare or youth support setting with children aged 7–11.

  • Supporting children through tutoring, mentoring or community activities.

In addition, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education.

  • Is enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn.

  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Is confident building relationships with primary-aged pupils.

  • Can use their initiative and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Is committed to completing the full 11-month apprenticeship programme.
