Graduate Teaching Assistant Required for an Independent School in Elmbridge

Engage Education is working closely with a welcoming independent school in the Elmbridge area of Surrey that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is passionate about education and looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a supportive independent school environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting pupils with their learning, confidence and academic development. This position would particularly suit a graduate considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology or working with children.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

• Support classroom teachers across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and academic progress.
• Assist with English, maths and other curriculum activities.
• Provide additional support to pupils who may need help accessing classroom learning.
• Help prepare classroom resources and engaging learning activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and other members of staff.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Requirements

• A degree in any subject, ideally education, psychology or a related field.
• A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, enthusiastic and proactive approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
• A willingness to learn and develop classroom skills.
