1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: East Leeds
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary, with potential for long-term opportunities
Pay: £92.56 – £95 per day

Engage Education is currently recruiting a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work within a primary school in East Leeds, supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children’s individual learning needs, helping them overcome barriers to education and ensuring they feel safe, included and confident within the classroom.

The successful candidate will provide tailored support to pupils who require additional assistance with their learning, development, communication and engagement throughout the school day.

The Role

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils across KS1 and KS2.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs, abilities and developmental stages.
• Support pupils with their literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities.
• Help children develop confidence, independence and positive social interaction skills.
• Encourage engagement in lessons and support pupils to remain focused on their learning.
• Assist with emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies where required.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure pupils receive consistent, effective support.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has previous experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Has experience supporting children with additional needs, such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties or social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Is patient, empathetic and confident building positive relationships with pupils.
• Can adapt their approach to suit different learning styles and individual needs.
• Demonstrates initiative and can work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential.

Candidates with transferable experience from nursery, childcare, care or support work settings are also encouraged to apply, particularly those with experience supporting children with additional needs.
