Location: East Leeds
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Start Date: 2nd November 2026 (after the half-term break)
Contract: Temporary may lead into permanent 

About the Role

Engage Education is working with a welcoming primary school in East Leeds that is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to join their team from Monday 2nd November 2026, following the half-term break.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development and wants to make a positive difference within a primary school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

We are keen to hear from candidates who have previous experience working with children in a primary school, nursery or a similar setting and who can bring a proactive, nurturing approach to the classroom.

Your Responsibilities

• Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and accessible lessons.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning activities.
• Encouraging children’s confidence, independence and participation in the classroom.
• Supporting pupils with their literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning.
• Helping maintain a positive learning environment and encouraging good behaviour.
• Adapting your approach to meet pupils’ individual learning needs.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Supporting classroom organisation and ensuring pupils feel safe, included and encouraged throughout the school day.

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school, nursery or similar educational setting.
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and development.
• A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of different pupils.
• Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
