Engage Education is working with a lovely specialist SEND school in Pudsey that is looking to expand its bank staff team. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and adaptable Teaching Assistants who are looking for flexible work that fits around their availability, with opportunities to support pupils on a day-to-day basis.

The school caters for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties and complex needs. They are looking for reliable, caring individuals who can step in when required and make a positive difference to pupils’ learning and development.

About the role

As a Bank SEND Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a specialist setting while supporting pupils and the wider school team as and when cover is needed.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with autism, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils access learning activities.
  • Helping create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils and adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Supporting classroom activities, communication and personal development.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality care and education.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from candidates who have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, as well as those who are passionate about developing a career in specialist education.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Flexible, reliable and available to work on an ad hoc basis.
  • Patient, caring and enthusiastic about supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Confident taking initiative and adapting to different classroom environments.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Experienced in supporting pupils with complex needs, autism or PMLD, although a genuine passion for SEND is also valued.

Experience in Theatre in Education (TIE), children’s workshops or similar settings would also be beneficial.

This role is ideal for anyone looking to gain valuable SEND experience while maintaining flexibility over when they work.
