Salary: From £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to join a welcoming and supportive day nursery in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Nursery Manager to support the effective day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring children receive the highest standards of care, education and support. You will play an important role in leading the nursery team, maintaining a safe and stimulating environment, and supporting high-quality practice across the setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running and leadership of the nursery.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.
• Provide strong leadership and support to the nursery team, promoting high standards of practice.
• Support staff with planning, delivering and evaluating engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework.
• Monitor children’s learning, development and wellbeing, ensuring observations and assessments are completed effectively.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues, acting as a positive role model within the setting.
• Support the implementation of policies, procedures and safeguarding practices across the nursery.
• Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, induction and ongoing professional development.
• Help ensure the nursery maintains high standards of health and safety, safeguarding, care and professionalism.
• Support the Nursery Manager with staffing, rotas and the organisation of the nursery day.
• Contribute to maintaining high-quality indoor and outdoor learning environments.
• Support the nursery in preparing for and maintaining strong Ofsted standards.
• Deal confidently and professionally with parents, carers and external professionals where required.
• Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the nursery.
• Step up to support the overall management of the nursery in the Nursery Manager’s absence.

Person Specification

• A recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification is essential for this role.
• Previous experience working within a nursery or early years setting.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within an early years setting is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework.
• A genuine passion for early childhood education and child development.
• Experience supporting and developing colleagues within an early years environment.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and children’s welfare.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A confident, organised and proactive approach to leadership.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking responsibility and showing initiative.
• A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to reach their potential.
• A positive and professional approach when working with children, families and colleagues.
• Right to work in the UK.

Please note: Candidates must hold a recognised Level 3 Early Years qualification to be considered for this position. Previous nursery leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
