Are you a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children or young people with SEND?
Are you passionate about helping pupils develop their confidence, communication, independence and learning?
We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Pudsey, supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with a wide range of additional needs.
About the role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide individual and small-group support both in the classroom and across the wider school environment.
The pupils have a range of complex needs, which may include:
- Autism and complex autism
- Moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties
- Complex communication needs
- Speech and language difficulties
- SEMH needs
- Physical and sensory needs
- Complex medical needs
- Complex and multiple learning difficulties
The role may involve supporting pupils with their learning, communication, behaviour, personal development and independence, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
What we’re looking for. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Experience supporting autism, learning difficulties or complex needs
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to support pupils with their individual care and learning needs
- The resilience and flexibility required to work within a specialist setting
Experience within a special school, SEN provision, residential setting, care environment or similar would be highly beneficial, although we will consider candidates with transferable experience.
