This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, confident managing challenging behaviour, and able to build positive relationships with students who may require additional behavioural and pastoral support.

The Role

As a Behaviour LSA, you will work closely with students and the wider pastoral team to promote positive behaviour, engagement and progress. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Supporting students who may display challenging or disruptive behaviour.
  • Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans.
  • Helping students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
  • Supporting students during lessons, transitions and other key points throughout the school day.
  • Encouraging positive choices and helping students develop greater independence and self-regulation.
  • Contributing to a safe, calm and inclusive school environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced working with young people in a school, youth work, pastoral or similar setting.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour and maintaining boundaries.
  • Calm, patient and resilient when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Able to build strong and positive relationships with students.
  • Consistent and confident in applying behaviour expectations.
  • A strong communicator who can work effectively with teachers and pastoral teams.
  • Passionate about supporting students who may face barriers to learning.
  • Reliable, proactive and committed to a long-term role.

Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, LSA, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Pastoral Assistant or similar would be highly advantageous.

What’s On Offer?

  • Long-term position starting from October half term.
  • Opportunity to become a valued member of a supportive secondary school team.
  • Consistent work for the remainder of the academic year.
  • Opportunity to develop your experience within behaviour and pastoral support.
  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Support from a dedicated Engage Education consultant throughout your placement.

If you are passionate about supporting young people and have the resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour, we would love to hear from you.
