Hours: 08:30am – 15:30pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role

At Engage Education, we specialise in recruiting enthusiastic and reliable staff for schools across Leeds. We are currently looking to recruit Flexible Cover Supervisors to work within a range of secondary schools across the area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within secondary schools, supporting pupils across different year groups and subjects without the responsibility of planning or marking lessons.

You will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of their usual teacher, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain focused, engaged and on task throughout the school day.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising secondary school classes across a range of subjects and year groups.

• Delivering pre-prepared lessons using PowerPoint presentations and resources left by the absent teacher.

• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.

• Ensuring pupils remain on task and complete the work provided.

• Providing basic guidance and support to pupils with their learning.

• Following school policies and procedures to maintain a safe and structured classroom.

• Reporting any behavioural or classroom concerns to the appropriate member of staff.

No lesson planning, marking or specialist subject knowledge is required! All lesson materials and instructions will be provided by the school. Your main responsibility will be to deliver the lesson and confidently manage the classroom.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working with children or young people within the last 3 years, ideally in a school, nursery, care or support setting.

• Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged pupils.

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

• The ability to engage pupils and maintain a positive classroom environment.

• A reliable, professional and adaptable approach.

• Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for a classroom.

• Flexibility to work on an ad hoc basis, accepting bookings around your availability.

• Availability to work between 08:30am and 15:30pm.
