Perhaps you’re considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy or another specialist area of education and child development?

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience supporting young people with additional needs, developing your understanding of behaviour, communication, emotional regulation and individual learning needs.

About the Role

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff within the school’s resourced provision, providing additional support to pupils who may require time away from mainstream lessons to access targeted interventions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils.

  • Supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH and speech, language and communication needs.

  • Delivering targeted interventions to develop communication, social skills and emotional regulation.

  • Supporting pupils who may struggle with mainstream classroom environments or managing their emotions.

  • Helping students develop positive relationships, confidence and independence.

  • Encouraging engagement with learning and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to education.

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to implement individual support strategies.

This role offers excellent exposure to the practical application of psychology within an educational setting, allowing you to develop valuable experience working with young people with a range of additional needs.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A recent Psychology degree (2:2 or above).

  • A genuine interest in child development, behaviour and additional needs.

  • An interest in pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy or a similar profession.

  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.

  • Confidence building positive relationships with young people.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, care or support setting would be advantageous.

Why Work with Engage Education?

  • Competitive daily pay rates of £92.56–£95.

  • Full-time, long-term opportunities.

  • Valuable experience within a secondary SEND provision.

  • Develop your knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive education.
