Do you have a background in care or support work and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people?

Engage Education is recruiting a School Support Worker to join a specialist SEND school in Bradford, supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of complex additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Care Assistants, Support Workers, Healthcare Assistants and those with previous SEN school experience who are passionate about helping young people develop their independence, communication and life skills.

Previous experience in a care, support work or school setting supporting individuals with additional needs is highly desirable.

About the Role

You will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide tailored care and support, helping pupils feel safe, included and able to engage with their learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex needs.

  • Supporting children with communication, interaction and engagement.

  • Helping pupils access classroom activities and personalised learning.

  • Providing personal care where required, including assistance with daily routines.

  • Supporting pupils with physical needs and mobility, following individual care plans.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and the development of essential life skills.

  • Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team to meet each pupil’s individual needs.
