SEND Teaching Assistant – School in Barnet
I am currently working with a lovely secondary school in Barnet who are urgently seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately.
The school is looking for someone who is confident supporting students with additional needs and who can take a calm, patient and therapeutic approach to behaviour and learning.
About the role
The pupils you will be supporting have a range of additional needs, including:
- ASC, including verbal and non-verbal students
- Learning difficulties
- Complex needs
- Behavioural and emotional needs
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a TA or LSA, preferably within a secondary school or similar educational setting. Experience supporting children and young people using a therapeutic approach is particularly beneficial.
You will need to be confident building positive relationships with students, managing challenging behaviour calmly and taking a proactive approach to supporting their learning and development.
The school is looking for candidates with:
- Previous experience working as an LSA / TA
- Experience supporting children and young people using a therapeutic approach
- Experience working within a secondary school or similar educational setting
- A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour
- Confidence supporting students with additional needs
- A valid Child & Adult DBS, or willingness to obtain one
- References available before being booked in for interview
