The Role

A secondary school in Bromley is looking for a confident, resilient and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and has a strong understanding of behaviour management, pastoral support and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

You will work closely with students who may require additional support with their behaviour, engagement, attendance and emotional wellbeing, helping them to make positive choices and remain focused on their education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with behavioural and pastoral needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent role model.
• Support students to manage their behaviour and develop positive strategies.
• Work alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to address behavioural concerns.
• Help students re-engage with learning and improve their attitude towards school.
• Support students during lessons, social times and targeted interventions where required.
• Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to relevant staff.
• Assist with implementing behaviour and pastoral strategies.
• De-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Promote a positive, safe and inclusive school environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with young people in an educational, youth or pastoral setting.
• Has strong behaviour management skills and can remain calm under pressure.
• Is confident supporting students with challenging behaviour.
• Can build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Is patient, resilient and approachable.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is proactive and able to work independently when required.
• Is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.
