Head of Geography Required for School in Barking and Dagenham 

An expanding school in Barking and Dagenham is looking for an inspiring Head of Geography for a permanent post starting in September 2024. The post has become available due to the current Head of Department relocating away from London. This position would suit either an experienced Head of Department or an experienced Geography Teacher looking to take on their first Head of Department role. If you’re ready for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

This is a full-time, permanent role in which you will be responsible for leading a team of Geography Teachers to deliver exceptional lessons to a range of ages and abilities. You will also be responsible for delivering CPD, and developing the Geography curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.  

The school offers all Head of Department’s CPD time on their timetable where you will receive one on one training with an external Leader who will support you in your progression path. The school caters to a cohort of vulnerable young people in East London and are looking for someone who can lead and inspire their Geography department.

The ideal candidate

  • Extensive experience teaching Geography at Key Stage 3 and GCSE

  • Experience teaching pupils with challenging behaviour 

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
