About Arun

Named after the river that runs through the centre of the district, the Arun district is a large coastal area of beautiful West Sussex stretching from Worthing to the seaside town of Bognor Regis. A hugely popular area with both locals and tourists alike. From some of the country’s oldest and most beautiful architecture at Arundel to ancient traditions and customs, the Arun district shows some of the best West Sussex has to offer in terms of history and heritage. Founded soon after the Norman Conquest in 1066, Arundel Castle has been home to the Earls of Arundel and Dukes of Norfolk for generations and is one of the finest in Britain, overlooking the River Arun and the Coastal Plain towards Littlehampton.

West Sussex is home to some of the best schools in the county, and the Arun district is no exception. With a population (2018) of 159,827, the Arun district is anything but crowded. However, this does not detract from the sense of community that is so clearly prevalent in the area. With outstanding, direct links to London, Brighton and Portsmouth, Arun is the perfect district to put down roots whilst having some of the most exciting areas in the country just a short train or bus ride away!
