We are working with a specialist education setting in the London Borough of Bexley that is seeking a committed and compassionate Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or Pastoral Support professional to join their team on a long term basis.
This provision supports children and young people aged 5 to 16 with a wide range of needs, including Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Communication and Interaction, Sensory and Physical needs, as well as students with medical needs who are unable to access mainstream education on a short term basis.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about inclusion, relationship-based support, and helping vulnerable young people feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
The Role:
Providing one to one and small group pastoral and behavioural support to pupils across primary and secondary age ranges
Supporting students with SEMH needs, emotional regulation, and behaviour management using calm, consistent approaches
Creating a safe, supportive space for pupils who may be dysregulated, anxious, or medically vulnerable
Supporting communication, social interaction, and engagement with learning
Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, therapists, and external professionals to support individual plans
Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive coping strategies
Supporting reintegration into learning when pupils are ready
The Ideal Candidate:
Has experience working with children or young people with diverse or additional needs, including SEMH and SEND
Is patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and positive relationships
Has experience in education, youth work, care, mentoring, or pastoral roles
Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
