Complex Needs Support needed for School in Eastbourne

We are looking for a passionate individual who is eager to support children with a range of different Special Educational Needs. Hearing impairments, speech and language difficulties Autism, and sensory needs.

This role will involve supporting children with difficulties in communication and speech, providing activities to improve the development of speech and pronunciation – with support and training. However, an understanding of Makaton and PECS is admirable.

The school consists of approximately seventy five students at the school and college, eleven tenants resident at the Supported Living Houses who are supported by almost 270 staff.

They cater for young people aged 5 – 19 with complex and severe learning difficulties, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum, and other associated difficulties. The provision uses an embedded therapies approach and focuses on access to the community for all, irrespective of their challenges.

About the role:

• Supporting Children with a range of needs; Autism, ADHD, Communication difficulties.

• Work in a Supportive and friendly environment

• Training provided

• Full time: Monday – Friday

• Work within a Supportive Team Environment

• Start date – October 20th – or sooner, if possible.

About you:

• Driver required

• Be confident in supporting children with communication barriers

• Some experience or understanding of Special Educational Needs

• Understanding of Non-verbal and Speech and Language difficulties

• Be reliable

• Makaton trained preferable

• Be proactive
