About the role:

This teaching assistant role is based in a special school in LS8. They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic apprentice for the role starting in April 2026. You will be providing additional support to pupils in the classroom on a 1 to 1 basis. We encourage candidates from a support worker/ youth worker background to apply.

• Supporting children with complex needs including ASD, SEMH and moderate to severe learning needs

• Supporting pupils with their educational and behavioural development

• Providing feedback to teachers and parents

• Adapt lesson materials to suit individual learning styles and accessibility needs.

The ideal candidate:

• Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their academic potential

• Proficient numeracy and literacy skills

• Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils

• A minimum 12 month commitment required for completion of the course

• Not currently enrolled in any other government-funded programme

• Must be available during school holidays to complete 20 hours of online training each half-term

• Experience working with children or vulnerable adults
