A specialist secondary school in Wandsworth is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a range of social, emotional, and communication needs including ASD, SEMH, and associated learning difficulties.
The school provides a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to learning, with structured routines, sensory-friendly spaces, vocational learning opportunities, and outdoor areas that support students’ engagement and wellbeing.

About the Role
In this role, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help create a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher in delivering personalised learning that meets pupils’ academic and emotional needs
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students with emotional regulation, engagement, and communication
Implement strategies to reduce anxiety and encourage positive behaviour
Assist in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support
Support students with daily routines, sensory needs, and practical tasks throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly SEMH and/or ASD
Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to follow behaviour-support and therapeutic strategies
Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
