About the Role:
As an Emotional Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 11-16 who require additional support with both their emotional and educational development. You will help create a supportive and engaging environment where students can build their confidence and stay motivated to learn. You’ll work alongside the school’s Inclusion and Learning Support teams to deliver tailored interventions, providing both one-on-one and small group support to ensure students’ success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and academic support to students aged 11-16, focusing on those who need extra help with emotional engagement in their learning.
- Deliver one-on-one support and small group interventions to build students’ confidence, resilience, and engagement.
- Help students maintain emotional stability during lessons and manage any challenges or distractions they may face.
- Work closely with teachers to ensure students can participate fully in class and make academic progress.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with students, creating a safe and encouraging learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to address the individual needs of each student.
- Contribute to the school’s approach to emotional and educational support, ensuring the well-being of all students.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced individual who is committed to supporting students’ emotional and academic success. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in educational support, particularly with SEN students or those who require emotional support.
You should be:
- Empathetic, with a genuine desire to help students overcome emotional challenges and engage in their learning.
- Experienced, with a background in supporting students in a classroom or similar educational setting.
- Proactiveand adaptable, able to respond to the changing needs of students and provide tailored support.
- Calmand patient, with the ability to offer a reassuring, supportive environment for students.
- Skilled at building strong relationships with both students and colleagues, fostering trust and respect.
- Available forfull-time workwith the potential to grow and take on additional responsibilities.
